It is a settlement that preserves colors and peculiar traditions; still there are kept in foot and in good, you can see constructions of colonial style of the 19th century and beginning of the XXth (epoch of brilliance of the trapiches and the production of sugar cane), some now restored and transformed, hotels, restaurants and galleries.
In the last years has turned into refuge for foreign and national artists since Charles Stewart in 1986 established his study in this place. Now, you can walk his streets, not only it is enjoyed the architecture also the art and the crafts. For some years there is realized the “Festival of the Art ” during February, the most important event of his state, whit the presence of local artists and the visit of national and foreign artists.
